Bonding over BPL at coffeeshop

I DO not understand the hue and cry over the bidding war between telcos SingTel and StarHub for broadcast rights to Barclays Premier League (BPL) football matches.

As a BPL fan I had signed up with StarHub mainly for BPL games, until the subscription rate for its sports package was raised last year.

I decided to end my subscription and watched live matches at the coffee shop in my estate instead.

At first, I watched them alone.

However, I noticed a group of die-hard BPL fans who would turn up to watch matches every week.

Over time, a few shouts of "Goal!" and coffee, we became good friends. And all this for the price of 80 cents for a cup of kopi.

Now that I have moved to Sydney, I miss these bonding sessions with my friends, but catch up with them over weekend BPL games whenever I am back for a visit.
